Asphacolor Integral Color for Hot Mix is an innovative coloring system for asphalt hot mix. Asphacolor Integral Color for Hot Mix when mixed with hot asphalt maintains the same properties as ordinary hot mix. It beautifies the pavement to harmonious earthtone colors. There are no toxic, carcinogenic agents, or organic solvents in Asphacolor Integral Color for Hot Mix. There are no hazardous fumes given off as the final product cures.
Asphacolor Integral Color for Hot Mix is supplied in a dry concentrate form. Asphacolor Integral Color for Hot Mix should be added to the hot asphalt mix during the final process after the hot aggregate, but before the hot oil, in a range from 50 to 80 pounds of Asphacolor Integral Color for Hot Mix per ton of hot asphalt. The amount of Asphacolor Integral Color for Hot Mix to be mixed with is dependent upon the particular hot mix being used and the color hue to be obtained.
Asphacolor Integral Color for Hot Mix in dry form should be stored in a dry place where liquids are not able to penetrate the product.
MIXING INSTRUCTIONS :
Asphacolor Integral Color for Hot Mix should be mixed at the asphalt plant. Asphacolor Integral Color for Hot Mix should be added to the hot mix during the mixing process at the pugmill. Asphacolor Integral Color for Hot Mix should be added after the heated aggregate (must meet cleanliness and or sand equivalency numbers) is already in the pugmill, but prior to the addition of oil. The mixing time recommended should be 60 seconds or at least twice the time of the plants standard hot mix. Asphacolor should be contacted by the plant to determine the specific ratios of oil and aggregate. These formulations change with specific hot mix designs.
Because of the variety of asphalt mix designs in different areas of the country it is not possible to specify an exact mixing formula for optimum use of Asphacolor Integral Color for Hot Oil Mix. Asphacolor will advise a mixing formula upon correspondence from the hot mix plant.
It is recommended that Asphacolor Integral Color for Hot Mix, when mixed with hot asphalt, be installed at a minimum of one inch layers. One ton of mixed product based on (1/2 inch max. med. mix or 12.5 mm) should yield approximately 160 square feet of one inch thickness.
PREPARATION OF PAVEMENT SURFACES:
Existing asphalt should be prepared in a matter consistent with preparing of asphalt for an overlay. Old asphalt should be cleaned and a tack coat should be applied prior to installation.
The final mixed product should be installed over existing base. It is recommended that a tack coat be applied over older asphalt prior to installation to inhibit greater bonding. Pavement surface temperatures should be 50 ˚ F (10 ˚C) and rising before application of the final mixed product is initiated.

Cure time is a factor of traffic and current weather conditions. The same procedures that are used for standard hot mix overlays should be observed. As with standard asphalt hot mix applications the pavement will fade from a shinny dark surface to a lighter duller surface. The original color hue will be dark and shinny and will fade into a beautiful earthtone surface within a one month time period.
Regular preventive maintenance can extend the life of asphalt pavement indefinitely. Asphacolor has many products to prolong the life of the Asphacolor Integral Color for Hot Mix application. Since control is not exercised over its use, no warranty, expressed or implied, is made as to the effects of such use. Seller's and manufacturer's obligation under this warranty shall be limited to refunding the purchase price of the portion of the material proven to be defective.
